Artist Entry Form and Information:
The Market Street Arts & Entertainment District is a Mount Airy Downtown, Inc. initiative that started in 2020 as a COVID-19 economic recovery initiative. The MSA&ED was awarded the Best Economic Recovery Initiative from the North Carolina Main Street Center. The arts come to life every weekend May through October with arts, music, food, and craft beers. Mount Airy’s Market Street Arts & Entertainment District blocks off vehicle traffic on Market Street in the downtown district to be pedestrian-only from 5pm Friday evening to 7pm on Sunday evenings.
Every weekend the road will be closed to make way for local makers, food trucks, live entertainment, and small businesses. This is a safe, family-friendly, public event. Since its inception in late 2020, popularity has increased and the offerings have grown with the community. Local students have painted individual parklets to compete for a top prize and an open container policy has been established to allow 21 and older participants to grab a drink and walk the street to shop, enjoy music, or gather at one of the available seating areas. The MSA&ED started in May and goes through October 31st. Market Street will be pedestrian only on the weekends from 5pm on Fridays through 7pm on Sundays. We can’t wait to see you on Market Street! Interested in participating as an artist or food truck vendor? Fill out the form below.
The MSA&ED is a juried artist exhibition that requires artists who create handmade items to submit an application to be reviewed by Mount Airy Downtown, Inc. The vendor/space assignment process will look a little different in 2022 to streamline communications and logistics of programming Market Street. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. Once approved, artists who apply to set up in the MSA&ED must pay a one time vendor fee of $100 to complete the approval process. Upon completion, approved artists will be recognized as an official MSA&ED artist and will be welcomed to set-up on a first-come first-served basis for one of the eight available artist spots each weekend day/evening when the MSA&ED is held (May - October). Approved artists will be contacted after submission with further details. Please submit your application and any questions you may have below.
