The City's official seal was established in 1977 which depicts major industries that are home to Mount Airy including: furniture, textiles, and the granite quarry - because Mount Airy is home to the world's largest open-faced granite quarry. Mount Airy is widely known as the inspiration for Mayberry on The Andy Griffith Show because we are Andy Griffith's hometown. Population in Mount Airy is 10,388.
